At Tasha Research Institute Africa, we are dedicated to supporting the communities in Uganda most affected by large-scale oil extraction and infrastructure projects. While these projects often promise economic development, they also bring significant harm to local communities, displacing families, disrupting livelihoods, and harming the environment.
Our work begins with community-centered research to capture the realities faced by those affected. We document how oil and infrastructure expansion leads to forced displacement, loss of income, and diminished access to essential resources. Through detailed reports, we aim to amplify the voices of those impacted and hold accountable those responsible.
We provide essential legal guidance and advocacy tools to empower communities to demand their rights, fair compensation, and protections against future encroachments. By working with local leaders and legal teams, we help affected individuals navigate complex legal systems and seek justice.
Environmental degradation is a critical issue for communities relying on natural resources. Our initiatives focus on promoting sustainable practices that protect Uganda’s rich ecosystems, which so many local families depend on for survival.
Tasha Research Institute Africa stands with these communities, advocating for their right to a fair and just development process. Join us as we work to ensure that economic progress respects the dignity, rights, and livelihoods of Uganda’s people. Together, we can shape a future that values both human and environmental well-being.
